December  Rides & Events with ALR 383

                                    Wreaths Across America

On December  10th. 6 riders from Post 383 and 3 riders from Post 521 joined the PGR at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery to stand in honor for all veterans at the Wreathes Across America ceremonies.  The morning ride was cold, at only 34 degrees, so some family members arrived by car.  In all, over 40 PGR and ALR members joined to form a flag line around a crowd of over 1200.  Following the ceremonies, the crowd and riders dispersed to place over 9,000 wreaths at each marker, to take a moment to remember those resting there and their sacrafice and service.

                                Riders Provide Community Service

On December 17th, 14 members of ALR 383 rode to Foodlink in Sacramento, to help pack food products for needy families.  Foodlink serves hundreds of families all over Northern California and depends on volunteers to prepare food products for distribution.  Our task was simple.  We scooped beans into plastic bags and packed them into boxes in lots of 50 bags per box.  In all we stuffed over 3,000 bags of beans onto 3 1/2 pallets to be shipped to needy families.  Though a simple task and a small part to play in feeding the hungry, we were sure our help was important to those families who needed assitance.
