November Rides & Events with ALR 383

On Veterans Day we had 8 ALR 383 Bikes take part in the Elk Grove Veterans Day Parade. There were also 20 or more Legion Riders from all over Northern California, as well as riders from various M/C’s in our area. We rode the 2 1/2 mile parade route 4 wide across the boulevard. The American Legion Riders were the Grand Marshalls of the parade, and received a lot of waves and recognition from the crowd. Henry Sanchez, Commander of District 6 was present and was instrumental in having the ALR lead the parade this year.

On Saturday, November 12th. we had 6 bikes representing ALR Post 383 attend the “Wall of Honor Dedication” at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel in Rocklin. There was a total of 41 bikes from the PGR and ALR staged for a procession that passed in front of event attendees. There were a total of 62 ALR/PGR members standing a flag line in honor of the 143 veterans being memorialized. The ceremony opened with a flag presentation and singing of the National Anthem. The Presentation of Colors was by the Beale AFB Honor Guard, a firing team and Taps by the Honor Guard Bugler. The names of all 143 names placed on the wall was followed by short tributes given by state and local officials.

On Sunday, November 27th. The American Legion and Legion Riders Post 383 hosted a booth at the 35th. Annual Toy Run by the California MMA. We talked with several veterans who showed a strong interest in joining the Legion to help serving their fellow veterans and families.
